Job Loss Assistance and Resources

Have you been laid off, furloughed, or your hours been reduced recently due to the COVID-19 outbreak? The City of Los Angeles Economic and Workforce Development Department (EWDD) is here to help you through this transition process by providing virtual orientations that will guide you through all available resources, including how to apply for Unemployment Insurance (UI) through CA EDD and health insurance.

Virtual Orientations

The free virtual orientations are led by EWDD’s Rapid Response Team, which is trained to support employees and businesses through any transition process. The team will demonstrate the Unemployment Insurance Benefits process, along with other various resources that support transitioning into a job as quickly as possible.

* RSVP below to register for a session in English or Spanish:

10:00am - Tuesday, Wednesday
1:00pm - Wednesday, Thursday

After registration, you will receive a phone number and access code to a virtual conference room. Prior to your training, please review the Job Resources Presentation and the other virtual orientation documents to help you follow along with the virtual orientation.

1:00pm - Martes
10:00am - Jueves

Después del registro, recibirá un número de teléfono y un código de acceso a una sala de conferencias virtual. Antes de su sesión, repase la Presentación para que le sea mas fácil seguir la información en este formato virtual.
* Please note that beginning October 12, 2020 there will be no orientations scheduled for Mondays or Fridays
Orientations will also not be scheduled on legal holidays as observed by the City of Los Angeles

All services are free and are mandated by the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) legislation. EWDD’s Rapid Response Team will also continue to work with individual companies to set up sessions specifically for them/their employees. These orientations are geared for anyone whose job was impacted by COVID-19 or otherwise was recently laid off.
